₹700 Crore Dalgate–Parimpora Flyover Approved for 2025–26: Work and Surveys in Progress
Srinagar, Oct 30: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has announced that a new four-lane flyover from Dalgate to Parimpora in Srinagar has been approved under the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) plan for 2025–26.

The project, which will cost ₹700 crore, aims to reduce heavy traffic between Lal Chowk and Parimpora and make travel faster and easier for the people of Srinagar.
According to the Public Works (R&B) Department, this 7-kilometre-long flyover was approved by the Ministry on June 19, 2025, and is one of 19 major projects cleared for Jammu and Kashmir under the new plan.
Surveys and Planning Underway
Officials said that topographical and geotechnical studies are going on along the proposed road. These include traffic surveys (ATCC studies) at busy junctions to check the number of vehicles and road conditions.
The department is also preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and Plan and Profile (P&P) for the flyover. These will be sent to the Ministry soon for final approval.
“Once the design and plan are approved, the project will move to the tendering stage and then to construction,” an official said.
A Big Relief for Srinagar Traffic
The Dalgate–Parimpora stretch is one of the busiest routes in Srinagar. The new flyover is expected to ease daily traffic jams, save time for commuters, and make travel safer.
Experts believe the project will also help improve air quality and road safety by diverting heavy vehicles away from central areas.

Next Steps
After the DPR approval, construction tenders will be issued and work is expected to begin by mid-2026. The project will be one of the biggest infrastructure developments in Srinagar in recent years and is seen as part of the government’s effort to make the city smarter and more connected.
