J&K DySP Recruitment 2026
SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has appointed 29 candidates as Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySPs) in the J&K Police (Gazetted) Service through direct recruitment under the J&K Combined Competitive Examination-2024.
The appointments were approved through Government Order No. 1521-JK(GAD) of 2026, issued by the General Administration Department on September 15, 2026, following recommendations of the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC).

The selected candidates have been appointed temporarily against posts in the J&K Police (Gazetted) Service in Pay Level-8, carrying a pay scale of Rs 47,600–1,51,100, with immediate effect.

Appointment Through JKPSC Combined Competitive Examination
The appointments have been made on the basis of the Combined Competitive Examination-2024 conducted by JKPSC.
The General Administration Department referred to the Commission’s letter No. PSC/Exam/CCE(M)/2024 dated May 11, 2026, containing the recommendations for appointment.
Two-Year Probation and Police Training
The newly appointed DySPs will remain on probation for a period of two years. They will also be required to undergo the prescribed training and pass the examinations stipulated under the applicable service rules.
Before starting police training, the appointees have been directed to report to the Director General, J&K Institute of Management, Public Administration and Rural Development (IMPA&RD) for the prescribed foundation course.
After completing the foundation course, they will report to the Director General of Police, J&K, for the prescribed police training.
Documents Required Before Joining
The appointment is subject to the production and verification of original documents, including:
- Qualification certificates
- Date of birth certificate
- Domicile certificate
- Relevant category certificate, wherever applicable
- Other documents required under the applicable rules
The candidates have been given 21 days from the date of issuance of the appointment order to join.
Candidates who fail to join within the stipulated period will forfeit their right to appointment, and their appointment will be treated as cancelled ab initio without further notice.
Appointment Subject to Verification
The government has clarified that salary will be drawn and disbursed only after satisfactory verification of the genuineness of the candidates’ qualification, date of birth and relevant category certificates.
The appointees are also required to submit the prescribed affidavit.
If any verifying agency reports adversely against a candidate, or any certificate is found to be invalid or not genuine, the appointment will automatically stand cancelled.
Rule for Candidates With Self-Employment Loans
The government order also contains a specific condition for candidates who have obtained self-employment loans from the District Industries Centre or Employment Department.
Such candidates must relinquish proprietorship of, and any stake in, the concerned business or enterprise before joining government service.
They will also be required to repay any outstanding loan liability through suitable monthly instalments. The concerned Drawing and Disbursing Officer (DDO) will work out the repayment mechanism from the candidate’s salary.
The concerned DDOs have been directed to obtain affidavits from such candidates and personally monitor the recovery of outstanding loan amounts.
Seniority Will Not Depend on Name Sequence
The government order further clarifies that the sequence of names in the appointment list will not determine seniority.
The seniority of the appointees will be fixed by the respective cadre-controlling department in accordance with the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1956.
The appointment and allocation of candidates to the service will also remain subject to the outcome of medical re-examination and any writ petition pending before a competent court, wherever applicable.
