Forensic Science Laboratory: A Vital Wing in Crime Investigation
The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) of Jammu and Kashmir serves as a critical arm of the criminal justice system, assisting police and investigative agencies in gathering, analyzing, and interpreting scientific evidence. The lab plays a vital role in cases involving DNA testing, ballistics, toxicology, fingerprint analysis, cyber forensics, and other scientific domains.
Officials believe that the appointment of an experienced officer like Om Prakash will bring renewed focus to the modernization and efficiency of forensic services in the region, which are increasingly relied upon in both criminal and civil cases.
The move also aligns with the government’s ongoing administrative reforms to ensure transparency, accountability, and efficiency in key departments under the Union Territory administration.
With this posting, the Lieutenant Governor’s administration continues its efforts to strengthen institutional capacities in law enforcement and scientific investigation, supporting a more evidence-based approach to justice delivery in Jammu and Kashmir.
