SRINAGAR, Oct 17: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has approved the adhoc elevation of eleven Sub-Judges to the post of District Judges (Entry Level), following the recommendations of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

As reported by Kashmir Life, the appointments have been made under Rule 20 of the Jammu and Kashmir Higher Judicial Service Rules, 2009. The government’s move aims to strengthen the district judiciary and improve the efficiency of case handling across the Union Territory.

The officers elevated include Mir Wajahat, Aadil Mushtaq, Fozia Paul, Mehreen Mushtaq, Feroz Ahmad Khan, Imran Hussain Wani, Preet Simran Kour, Fayaz Ahmad Qureshi, Umesh Sharma, and Sheikh Gowhar Hussain.

The government order states that these adhoc appointments are made in compliance with procedural requirements and are based on recommendations submitted by the Registrar General of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Specific conditions have been outlined to ensure judicial standards are maintained.

Legal analysts say the elevation of younger officers along with experienced Sub-Judges is expected to bring fresh energy and strengthen administrative oversight at the district level. These adhoc appointments will continue until permanent selections are finalized through standard procedures.

This step reflects the administration’s ongoing efforts to ensure timely justice delivery and to bolster the judiciary in Jammu and Kashmir. Citizens can expect improved case management and faster hearings at district courts following these new appointments.
