The Jammu and Kashmir Government has officially announced winter vacations for all Government Educational Institutions and recognized private schools up to the Higher Secondary level falling under the summer zone areas of Jammu Division.
As per the official order, winter vacations will be observed in a phased manner for different classes to ensure smooth academic planning and continuity.
Students from Pre-Primary to Class 5 will observe winter vacations from December 22, 2025, to January 10, 2026.
Students of Class 6 to Class 8 will go on winter break from December 26, 2025, to January 10, 2026.
For students studying in Class 9 to Class 12, winter vacations will commence from December 29, 2025, and continue till January 10, 2026.
Meanwhile, the government has clarified that all teaching faculty shall remain available for any academic or administrative activities assigned during the vacation period. Teaching staff have been directed to report back to their respective institutions on January 10, 2026, without fail.
The order further warns that any default or violation of the prescribed vacation schedule by Heads of Institutions or teaching staff will invite strict disciplinary action under the applicable service rules.
