SRINAGAR: A 9-year-old child lost his life, and two others were injured after a pickup van went off the road in the Billawar-Machhadi area of Kathua district in Jammu and Kashmir, on Monday evening.

An official said that accident occurred at Village Nangala on the Billawar-Machhadi road when a Mahindra Pickup van, bearing registration number JK08J 9745, reportedly rolled off the road.
Three persons were involved in the mishap and were immediately shifted to SDH Billawar. Two of them sustained injuries and are undergoing treatment, while a nine-year-old child was brought dead to the hospital.
Deceased child was identified as 9-year-old, Wahid Malik son of Mohd Shakeel resident of Machaddi Tehsil Lohai-Malhar.
The body of the deceased has been handed over to the police for further investigation.
Cognizance of the incident has been taken and further investigation initiated. (KNC)
