Low Visibility Grounds Flights
According to Javed Anjum, Director of Srinagar Airport, the thick fog reduced visibility to a level unsuitable for flight operations. As a result, all flights were put on hold, leading to delays. “Flight operations will resume once visibility improves,” Anjum stated, expressing optimism that conditions might improve in the afternoon, allowing flights to land and depart.
Challenges for Commuters
The dense fog not only impacted air travel but also caused difficulties for commuters on the ground. The valley experienced reduced visibility from early morning, making it challenging for people to navigate roads safely.
Weather Impact on Daily Life
The foggy conditions are part of the typical winter weather in Kashmir, which often affects transportation and daily life in the region. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and advising travelers to stay updated on flight schedules.
As the day progresses, passengers and commuters alike hope for an improvement in visibility, ensuring the resumption of normalcy in travel operations.
