The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported the earthquake at 93 kilometers northeast of Lobuche, Nepal. The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) confirmed the tremor, stating that it was recorded at 6:35 AM (IST) with an epicenter at latitude 28.86° North and longitude 87.51° East, at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers. The quake’s location was identified in the Xizang (Tibet Autonomous Region) near Nepal.

Aftershocks Reported

Following the primary earthquake, the region experienced two aftershocks:

  1. Magnitude 4.7 at 7:02 AM IST, with its epicenter at latitude 28.60° North and longitude 87.68° East, at a depth of 10 kilometers.
  2. Magnitude 4.9 at 7:07 AM IST, with its epicenter at latitude 28.68° North and longitude 87.54° East, at a depth of 30 kilometers.

The tremors were felt across parts of Bihar, including Sheohar district, causing panic among residents. No immediate reports of damage or casualties have been received from either Nepal or the affected areas in Bihar.
