The Health and Medical Education Department (H&ME), Jammu and Kashmir, has officially released the Tentative Seniority List of Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) and equivalents (Retired/In-service) under the Health and Family Welfare (Gazetted) Service as on 01.01.2026.

Background of the Seniority List
The department stated that the final seniority list of 70 CMOs was earlier issued through Government Order No. 213-HME of 2015 dated 10.06.2015.
Later, based on recommendations from the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) and JKPSC, 95 Block Medical Officers (BMOs)/Medical Officers were regularized and confirmed as CMOs through Government Order No. 296-JK(HME) of 2023 dated 10.04.2023.
Subsequently, another final seniority list of only 24 CMOs was issued via Government Order No. 796-JK(HME) of 2023 dated 26.09.2023.
Why the New Tentative List Was Issued
The department clarified that 59 Chief Medical Officers and equivalents were inadvertently left out from the previously issued seniority list.
After reviewing the matter, authorities decided to update the list by incorporating the names of these 59 leftover confirmed (retired) CMOs, ensuring a more accurate and comprehensive seniority record.

Objection Process and Deadline

➡️ Any aggrieved CMO or equivalent can file objections or appeals within 07 days from the date of notification.
➡️ Appeals must be submitted to the Human Resource Management (HRM) Branch under the provisions of the J&K Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1956.
