Why JPDCL Conducts Scheduled Power Shutdowns

Think of the power system as a large network of roads. Just as roads need timely repairs, resurfacing, and upgrades, the electrical infrastructure also requires regular maintenance. Engineers must work on transmission lines, transformers, and other components to prevent faults and ensure stable electricity in the long run.

To perform this work safely, JPDCL must temporarily switch off power in select areas. These planned pauses help avoid future breakdowns and ensure smoother and more reliable electricity supply across Jammu.

How Residents Can Prepare for Power Shutdowns

Planning ahead can help families manage these temporary pauses smoothly. Here are simple steps to stay ready:

1. Charge Devices Beforehand

Ensure phones, laptops, and power banks are fully charged before the scheduled outage.

2. Store Water Early

If your home uses an electric water pump, fill storage tanks in advance.

3. Plan Tasks Wisely

Complete important work—laundry, cooking, online tasks—before the electricity goes off.

4. Prioritise Safety

Avoid using candles due to the fire risk. Keep battery-powered lights ready.
Unplug delicate appliances like TVs and computers to protect them from possible voltage surges when the power returns.

Final Word

These temporary outages may feel inconvenient, but they play a crucial role in ensuring a stronger and smoother electricity system in Jammu. JPDCL has urged residents to take note of the schedule and prepare accordingly.
