LG Manoj Sinha Pledges Full Rehabilitation for Flood Victims, Launches Housing Project in Kishtwar
SRINAGAR, Nov 3: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday reaffirmed that the Jammu and Kashmir administration will ensure complete rehabilitation of families affected by the recent floods in Kishtwar, promising all-out government support for their recovery.

According to officials quoted by Kashmir News Observer (KNO)), LG Sinha laid the foundation stone of a new housing project for flood-hit families at Chasoti in Kishtwar district. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured full central government support to the affected families.
“Every possible effort will be made for rehabilitation and revival,” Sinha said, adding that the administration has been actively working to assist the victims since the floods hit on August 14, claiming the lives of local residents, devotees, and security personnel.

The LG mentioned that the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) provided immediate relief and that both administrative and financial assistance were delivered at the government level. He highlighted that voluntary organizations such as Moje Sonwai are partnering with the government to construct durable homes for affected families — houses strong enough to withstand heavy snowfall.
Sinha also praised the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) for its efforts in restoring damaged infrastructure, including roads, bridges, petrol stations, and mobile connectivity. He informed that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh was earlier scheduled to visit the area but could not reach due to adverse weather conditions.
“After visiting the site myself, I felt compelled to come again. The Prime Minister has assured that the central government stands firmly with the families of those who lost their lives in this tragedy. Every effort will be made for their rehabilitation and revival,” the LG said.
