Light Rain, Snow Expected in Parts of Jammu and Kashmir from November 4: MET Forecast

SRINAGAR, Nov 3: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has predicted a change in weather conditions across Jammu and Kashmir, with light to moderate rainfall and snowfall likely over higher reaches between November 4 and 5.

According to officials quoted by Kashmir News Channel (KNC), MET Director Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad said the weather will remain generally cloudy on November 4 and 5, accompanied by light to moderate precipitation at several places in the Kashmir division and scattered areas of Jammu division — mainly during the evening of November 4 till the early hours of November 5.

The forecast also mentions that weather will turn dry again from November 6 to 15, offering relief after the short wet spell. The MET department has also cautioned about thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30–40 kmph) at isolated places on the evening of November 4.

A sharp dip in day and night temperatures is expected across the Valley from November 5 onwards. As of Monday, Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 17°C and a minimum of 6°C, Gulmarg remained cooler at 9°C and 1°C, while Jammu witnessed 28°C during the day and 13°C at night.

Farmers have been advised to suspend all agricultural operations on November 4 due to possible rain and snow activity. The department has also recommended precautionary measures for orchardists to protect crops from moisture and low temperatures.
