LPG Cylinder Price Hiked by Rs 29 Across India; New Domestic Cooking Gas Rates Effective from June 7

New Delhi, June 7: Domestic LPG cylinder prices have been increased by Rs 29 per 14.2-kg cylinder across India, marking the second major hike in cooking gas prices within the last three months. The revised rates came into effect on June 7, 2026.

Following the latest revision, the price of a 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder in Delhi has increased from Rs 913 to Rs 942. LPG prices in other cities will also rise, although the final retail price may vary due to local taxes, transportation charges, and state-specific levies.

Why Have LPG Prices Increased?

The latest LPG price hike comes amid continued pressure on global energy markets. Industry experts attribute the increase to rising international oil and gas prices, largely influenced by ongoing geopolitical tensions and supply disruptions in the Middle East.

According to industry sources, oil marketing companies have been facing significant financial pressure due to increasing import costs and fluctuations in global fuel prices.

Second LPG Price Hike in Three Months

This is the second increase in domestic LPG prices in recent months. Earlier, on March 7, domestic cooking gas prices were raised by Rs 60 per cylinder after global energy markets witnessed sharp volatility.

Officials said the previous increase only partially offset losses incurred by oil marketing companies on domestic LPG sales, prompting the latest revision.

Impact on Consumers

The fresh increase is expected to impact household budgets across the country as LPG remains the primary cooking fuel for millions of families.

Consumers in metropolitan cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Srinagar, and Jammu, will now have to pay higher prices for domestic cooking gas cylinders.

Fuel Prices Continue to Rise

The LPG price hike comes alongside recent increases in other fuel categories. Petrol and diesel prices have reportedly risen by a cumulative Rs 7.50 per litre since mid-May, while compressed natural gas (CNG) prices have also witnessed an increase.

Industry estimates suggest that oil marketing companies continue to face pricing pressures despite the recent revisions.
