SRINAGAR, October 9, 2025 — New SSP Kupwara Appointed;In a significant administrative move, the Jammu and Kashmir Home Department on Thursday enacted a mid-level reshuffle within the police establishment, transferring and posting three officers of the Jammu and Kashmir Police Service (JKPS) with immediate effect.
The government order, issued today, outlines a strategic rotation of senior officials, impacting key positions in the armed police, headquarters, and district administration.
Administrative Reshuffle: J&K Government Orders Key Transfers of Three Senior Police Officers
The specific postings are as follows:
- Shri Sanjay Kumar Bhagat (JKPS:2001), who was serving as the Commandant of the 14th Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police (JKAP) battalion, has been transferred and posted as the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Buildings. He takes over the role from Shri Amit Bhasin, who has been directed to await further orders at the Police Headquarters in Jammu and Kashmir.
- Shri Gh Jeelani Wani (JKPS:2001), the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of the sensitive Kupwara district, has been reassigned. He will now take up the post of Commandant, 14 JKAP, succeeding Shri Sanjay Kumar Bhagat.
- Shri Syed Al Tahir Geelani (JKPS:2001), who was serving as the Staff Officer to the Director General of Police (DGP) for Jammu and Kashmir, has been transferred and appointed as the new SSP of Kupwara. He steps into the role vacated by Shri Gh Jeelani Wani.
