According to officials ), the operation was launched after alleged cross-border attacks on Pakistani security posts. Islamabad described the action as a “decisive response” to militant activity threatening its territorial integrity.
Security sources stated that precision airstrikes and ground assaults targeted suspected Taliban hideouts and command structures. Authorities claimed that besides 133 militants killed, more than 200 were injured, while several check posts and ammunition depots were destroyed. Independent verification of these figures, however, remains limited.
Reports indicate that areas near Kabul and Kandahar were among the locations hit during the offensive. Taliban representatives have disputed Pakistan’s claims, alleging civilian impact and counter-casualties on Pakistani forces. Conflicting narratives from both sides have created uncertainty about the exact scale of losses.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reportedly chaired high-level security meetings following the launch of the operation. Officials reiterated that Pakistan would continue operations if cross-border attacks persist.
The Pakistan–Afghanistan frontier has long remained volatile, with both governments accusing each other of harboring hostile elements. Analysts warn that sustained military escalation could further destabilize regional security and strain already fragile diplomatic relations.
