What makes this achievement even more impressive is the speed at which Rohit reached the record. Afridi hit 351 sixes in 369 innings, while Rohit broke the record in just 269 innings—100 fewer than the former Pakistan captain. He also became the fastest to reach 350 ODI sixes, accomplishing the feat in only 277 matches.

During the match, Rohit showcased his trademark aggressive batting, hitting two massive sixes off Prenelan Subrayen and another off Marco Jansen. His composed yet explosive knock demonstrated why he is considered one of the greatest white-ball batters of this era.
After Rohit and Afridi, the list of most ODI sixes features Chris Gayle with 331 sixes, Sanath Jayasuriya with 270, and MS Dhoni with 229.
In the India vs South Africa clash, Rohit and Virat Kohli also marked their return to the field. After Aiden Markram opted to bowl first, Rohit received an early lifeline when Tony de Zorzi dropped him on just one run. Making full use of the reprieve, Rohit struck boundaries off Marco Jansen and maintained a strike rate above 100 alongside Kohli.
Rohit brought up his 60th ODI fifty in the 19th over. In the very next over, he smacked another towering six, surpassing Afridi’s record and taking his tally to 352. He eventually scored 57 off 51 balls, including three sixes and five fours, before being dismissed by Jansen.
Rohit’s historic knock has once again underlined his dominance in limited-overs cricket and strengthened his legacy as one of the most explosive batters in the modern era.
