SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has re-designated Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the AGMUT cadre (2009 batch), as Commissioner/Secretary to the Government following his promotion to the Super Time Scale.

Choudhary’s re-designation is part of routine administrative postings and promotions in the Union Territory. He will continue to hold senior-level responsibilities, contributing to policy formulation and administration across government departments.

The move reflects the government’s recognition of his service and experience in administrative roles within the Union Territory and the broader AGMUT cadre framework.

Choudhary, a 2009 batch IAS officer from the Jammu and Kashmir cadre, currently serves as Secretary of the Department of Rural Development and Local Self-Government, Jammu and Kashmir. He secured an All India Rank of 51 in the Union Public Service Commission’s Civil Services Examination in 2008
