A 44-year-old driver working with a highway maintenance company was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the Sanat Nagar area of Srinagar, officials said on Saturday.

The deceased, identified as Raj Kumar, a resident of Lathi, Udhampur, was employed with LN Malviya Company, which is engaged in highway maintenance work. He was temporarily residing in Housing Colony, Sanat Nagar.

According to initial reports, Raj Kumar had allegedly consumed alcohol before losing consciousness in his room. He was shifted to Ahmedia Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Following the incident, his body was moved to SMHS Hospital, Srinagar, for medico-legal formalities. Police have taken cognizance of the case and initiated proceedings under relevant sections to determine the exact cause of death, as per Kashmir News Trust (KNT).
Authorities are investigating whether alcohol consumption or other factors contributed to the driver’s sudden death.
