The forecast suggests widespread rain in low-lying areas and moderate to heavy snowfall in higher regions such as Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Kupwara, and Pahalgam during the two-day spell. Meteorologists also warn of a sharp temperature drop post the system’s passage, with Srinagar likely to record its first sub-zero temperature of the season.
Meanwhile, parts of Jammu division may experience light rain and cooler winds, while Gulmarg could see early snow accumulation up to 4–6 inches, signaling the onset of winter conditions.
Residents and travelers have been advised to plan accordingly as slippery roads and reduced visibility may affect traffic movement on hilly routes like the Srinagar–Leh highway and Mughal Road.
