Eid-Al-Fitr 2026: Chances of Moon Sighting in India and Pakistan
India: There is only about a 5% chance of sighting the new moon today. With prevailing cloudy conditions, limited crescent illumination, and unfavorable visibility timing, moon sighting appears highly unlikely.
Eid Declaration: Expected within 1 hour after Maghrib prayers.
Pakistan: Around a 20% chance of moon sighting exists today.
Sighting is highly unlikely in Punjab, PAK, and Gilgit-Baltistan provinces.
A very weak possibility remains in parts of Balochistan, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The moon will stay above the horizon for roughly 30 minutes after sunset. Under completely clear skies, sighting may be possible with optical aid (binoculars/telescopes). However, naked-eye visibility remains extremely low.
Eid Declaration: Likely 2.5 to 4 hours after Maghrib, due to expected delays in verification.
Jammu and Kashmir
Persistent cloud cover makes moon sighting highly unlikely across the region.
