Er. Imtiaz Ahmad Suspended as In-Charge Executive Engineer, SMC

Srinagar, Feb 20: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has placed Er. Imtiaz Ahmad, In-charge Executive Engineer (Civil) of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), under suspension with immediate effect.

According to Government Order No. 62-PW (R&B) of 2026 dated February 20, 2026, the action has been taken pending an enquiry into his conduct. The order states that he has been suspended under Rule 31 of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1956.

During the suspension period, Er. Imtiaz Ahmad will remain attached to the Office of the Chief Engineer, Public Works (R&B), Zone North, Kashmir, and will be entitled to suspension allowance as per rules.

The government has directed that the charge of Executive Engineer, City Roads (SMC) Division, will be held by Er. Fareed Ahmad Khan, In-charge Executive Engineer, Public Works (R&B) Division, Dalgate.

Further, Er. Sushil Kumar, In-charge Chief Engineer, Public Works (R&B), Zone North, Kashmir, has been appointed as the Inquiry Officer to investigate the allegations. The inquiry will focus particularly on the quality of macadamization and other development projects executed in the City Roads Division during the last two years under the supervision of Er. Imtiaz Ahmad.

The Inquiry Officer has been asked to submit the report within 30 days. The order has been issued by the Public Works (R&B) Department, Government of Jammu and Kashmir.
