, the Jammu Division of Indian Railways collected Rs 5 lakh in fines in a single day by penalising 673 passengers for travelling without valid tickets. The campaign, held on October 17, marks the highest single-day fine recovery ever recorded by the division.

The large-scale ticket checking drive was led by Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Sr DCM) Uchit Singhal and covered major stations, including Jammu, Pathankot Cantt, Pathankot City, Katra, Srinagar, and Budgam.

Under the supervision of Assistant Commercial Manager Jammu, Manoj Meena, multiple teams conducted inspections on trains and platforms throughout the division. “In a single day, we checked thousands of passengers, and 673 were found travelling without valid tickets,” Singhal said.

The senior official emphasised that such campaigns are part of ongoing efforts to curb irregular travel and ensure proper fare collection. He also urged passengers to use digital ticketing platforms like M-UTS and the RailOne App to book tickets conveniently and avoid long queues at stations.

This record collection highlights the railway division’s focus on improving ticket compliance and strengthening passenger accountability. Officials confirmed that ticket-checking campaigns will continue periodically across the division to maintain discipline and enhance revenue.
