NC Betrayed People of Jammu and Kashmir, Voters Seeking Alternatives Now: LoP Sunil Sharma (KNO)
Srinagar, October 20: Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, Sunil Sharma, has strongly criticised the National Conference (NC), accusing it of deceiving the people and promoting dynastic politics for decades.
Speaking to reporters in Budgam, Sharma said the NC has “lost the trust of the people,” and voters are now exploring political alternatives. “The NC has deceived people in Jammu and Kashmir for decades. Recently, it even took a u-turn on smart meters. The public is tired of such hypocrisy,” Sharma said, as reported by Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
He further alleged that the Abdullah family has dominated the region’s political landscape for generations. “People have started a movement against family politics and will reject the Abdullahs. The National Conference will soon collapse like a pack of cards, and its MLAs will be scattered,” Sharma said.
Accusing the NC leadership of double standards, he added, “Those who eat with silver spoons can never understand the pain of the poor.” Sharma also reiterated that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is committed to implementing pro-poor policies under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “The BJP will ensure these welfare measures reach every household in Budgam and across Kashmir,” he said.
The Budgam by-election was necessitated after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah retained his Ganderbal seat in the 2024 Assembly elections. The BJP has fielded Aga Mohsin for the Budgam constituency.
