PM Modi Fulfilled 70-Year Promise by Revoking Article 370 in Jammu & Kashmir: Amit Shah

Srinagar, October 26 (Times of Kashmir / KNO): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi fulfilled a 70-year-old promise by revoking Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, fully integrating the region into India and dealing a historic blow to terrorism, according to KNO.

Addressing a series of public rallies in Bihar, Shah said that for seven decades, no government dared to amend or revoke Article 370. However, in 2019, PM Modi took the bold step to abolish it and bring lasting peace to Jammu and Kashmir.

“For 70 years, no one dared to touch Article 370. In 2019, PM Modi revoked it and crushed terrorism from its hideouts,” Shah said, as quoted by KNO, adding that the move unified Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of the country.

According to KNO, the Home Minister also spoke about India’s growing economy, saying that under PM Modi’s leadership, India has risen from being the 11th largest economy to the 4th, with a target of reaching 3rd place by 2027.

“PM Modi has made India safe and prosperous. He brought our economy from 11th to 4th place, and we will soon reach 3rd before 2027,” Shah said.

Speaking on national security, Shah recalled major terror attacks including Uri, Pulwama, and Pahalgam, and said that the government responded through surgical strikes, air strikes, and the recent Operation Sindoor after the Pahalgam attack.

He also accused previous governments of being weak on national security due to political interests, asserting that PM Modi’s government acted decisively to eliminate terrorism from its roots.

As per KNO, Shah also discussed the special revision of voter rolls in Bihar, alleging that opposition parties were obstructing the process to protect infiltrators.

“Tell me, should infiltrators remain on the voter list or not? Form the NDA government again, and I promise every infiltrator will be removed from Bihar,” Shah said.

He further criticized Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and Manmohan Singh, as well as Lalu Prasad Yadav, accusing them of remaining silent on infiltration and national security issues.

Concluding his address, Shah said that the Bihar Assembly elections would determine whether the state continues on the path of development or returns to “misgovernance.”

“Under PM Modi, India strengthened national security through surgical strikes (2016), air strikes (2019), and Operation Sindoor (2025),” Shah added. — (KNO)
