Srinagar, Oct 15: Police in Srinagar have arrested three men involved in a brutal axe attack that left a youth injured in the Qamarwari area late Tuesday evening.
According to officials, the injured has been identified as Noman Yaqoob Khanday, who was attacked with an axe by unidentified individuals near Qamarwari. Following the assault, Srinagar Police immediately launched an investigation using both technical intelligence and on-ground surveillance.
The accused were identified as:
- Sahil Yaqoob Grustoo, son of Mohammad Yaqoob Grustoo
- Farooq alias Farhan Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Nabi Dar
- Bilal Ahmad Guroo, son of Zahoor Ahmad Guroo
All three are residents of Boatman Colony, Bemina, Srinagar.
Police said that the weapon used in the attack has been recovered from the accused. The trio were taken into custody during overnight raids carried out by multiple police teams in the city.
Legal proceedings have been initiated under the relevant sections of law. Officials added that the motive behind the attack is still under investigation.
