In the Jammu region, light rainfall is expected, while higher areas like Doda, Kishtwar, and Bhaderwah may receive light snowfall. Zojila Pass is also likely to experience a brief spell of snow, the MeT official added, urging travellers and transporters to exercise caution while moving through hilly terrain.

The department has warned of slippery road conditions and minor traffic disruptions on mountainous routes, especially along the Srinagar–Leh and Mughal roads. Authorities have been advised to keep snow-clearance machinery ready in case of any accumulation over high-altitude areas.

“Shallow to moderate precipitation is likely at scattered places under the influence of this system,” Ahmad said, adding that the activity will weaken by Wednesday evening. Afterward, the weather is expected to improve gradually, leading to mainly dry conditions around November 16 and 17.

Meanwhile, temperatures across the Kashmir Valley have already dropped, with Srinagar recording around 7°C in the morning, Gulmarg hovering near 1°C, and Jammu witnessing a minimum of 15°C. The coming days are expected to bring colder mornings and crisp afternoons typical of early winter in the Valley.

The MeT department has advised people living in hilly areas to remain alert to sudden changes in weather and avoid unnecessary travel during snowfall hours. Farmers have also been cautioned to cover perishable crops and fruits to prevent damage from moisture or frost.

This western disturbance marks the first major spell of November and is expected to pave the way for the winter season across the Himalayan region.
