Extreme Heat: Jammu Temperature Hits 39.5°C Amid Heatwave
SRINAGAR: Heatwave conditions intensified across the Jammu plains on Saturday as the region continued to reel under rising temperatures, with the city recording a maximum of 39.5°C, 5.1 degrees above normal.
The minimum temperature also remained above average at 22.8°C, 2.0 degrees higher than normal, a Meteorological Department spokesperson said.
Katra, the base camp for pilgrims visiting the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Reasi district, also witnessed a sharp rise in temperatures, recording a maximum of 36°C, 6.2 degrees above normal, while the minimum settled at 23.0°C, 5.4 degrees above normal.
The persistent increase in both day and night temperatures has resulted in uncomfortable weather conditions, particularly during the afternoon hours.
The Meteorological Department has forecast continued hot and dry weather with isolated heatwave conditions across the Jammu plains for the next four days.
Meanwhile, the Kashmir Valley experienced light rainfall during the early morning hours.(SOURCE: KASHMIR LIFE )
