Jammu & Kashmir Weather Alert: Heavy Rain, Flash Flood and Landslide Warning Issued for July 11–12
Srinagar, July 11: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued a weather advisory forecasting intermittent rain and thundershowers across Jammu and Kashmir over the next two days. The department has warned of heavy rainfall, flash floods, landslides and mudslides at isolated locations, particularly in the Chenab Valley and Pir Panjal range of the Jammu division.

Heavy Rain Likely on July 11 and 12
According to the MeT Centre, many parts of Jammu and Kashmir are expected to receive one or two spells of rain and thundershowers on July 11 and July 12. Some areas, especially in the Chenab Valley and Pir Panjal region, could witness heavy rainfall accompanied by brief but intense showers.
The weather department said these conditions may increase the risk of waterlogging, flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas.
Weather Outlook for July 13–17
From July 13 to July 17, the Union Territory is expected to experience generally hot and humid weather. However, scattered areas may continue to receive brief spells of rain and thundershowers. Isolated parts of the Jammu division could also witness short-duration intense showers during this period.
Fresh Rain Spell Expected from July 18
The MeT Centre has also forecast another spell of light to moderate rain and thundershowers across many parts of Jammu and Kashmir between July 18 and July 20, bringing another round of wet weather to the region.
Flash Flood and Landslide Advisory
The weather department has advised residents, tourists and pilgrims to remain alert, particularly on July 11 and 12, when heavy rainfall is expected during the afternoon and early morning hours.
Authorities have warned that intense rainfall could trigger:
- Flash floods in low-lying areas
- Landslides and mudslides in hilly regions
- Sudden rise in water levels in streams and nallas
- Difficult travel conditions on vulnerable roads
