The deceased has been identified as Khalid Sharief Bhat of Arampora Sopore.
Family members said that Khalid had left home for an outing around eight to ten days ago. They last spoke to him on December 8 when he informed them he was at Jewel Chowk in Jammu. When they attempted to contact him afterwards, his phone remained switched off, causing immediate concern.
The recovery of his body has deepened the family’s suspicion that the death may not be natural. They have appealed for a thorough and transparent investigation to determine the circumstances in which Khalid died.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated an inquiry. Officers said further details will emerge as the investigation progresses. [KNT]
